Cleaning with Orthodontic Braces: A Guide from Orthodontics on Queen in Toronto

If you have recently gotten orthodontic braces, congratulations on taking the first step towards a healthier and more beautiful smile! While braces can be a great investment in your oral health, they do require a bit of extra effort when it comes to cleaning your teeth and mouth. Don't worry, though - with the right techniques and tools, it's easy to keep your braces clean and your mouth healthy while you undergo orthodontic treatment.

Here are some tips from the team at Orthodontics on Queen in Toronto on how to properly clean with orthodontic braces:

  1. Brush three times a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Use a fluoride toothpaste and brush in a circular motion, making sure to reach all surfaces of your teeth and braces. Be sure to brush your tongue and the roof of your mouth as well to remove bacteria and freshen your breath.
  2. Floss daily with a floss threader or a water flosser. Flossing is important for removing plaque and food particles from between your teeth and around your braces. A floss threader can help you easily maneuver the floss under the wire of your braces, while a water flosser uses a stream of water to clean between your teeth and around your braces. In general, water flossers are easier to use for most patients, which is why we usually prefer them.
  3. Use interdental brushes or proxy brushes to clean around your braces. These small, thin brushes can help you reach the tight spaces between your teeth and braces, where a toothbrush may not be able to reach.
  4. Rinse with mouthwash. Mouthwash can help kill bacteria and freshen your breath, and is especially useful for those with braces since it can help reach areas that may be difficult to brush or floss.
  5. Visit your general dentist regularly. While in orthodontic braces, it's important to get a professional cleaning every 4 months to get all the hard-to-reach areas. Your dentist or hygienist can also help you with cleaning techniques and provide you with any additional tools or products that may make cleaning with braces easier.

By following these simple cleaning tips, you can keep your mouth healthy and your braces clean while undergoing orthodontic treatment at Orthodontics on Queen in Toronto. Remember, a healthy mouth is an important part of a healthy and beautiful smile, so don't neglect your oral hygiene just because you have braces!

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
